Alan Drechsler

Al was born in Rochester, New York where he still resides.  He has been married to his wife Trudy for over 35 years.  Al and Trudy raised two wonderful children. Amy (Husband Matt) and Alan (Wife Kristi).

Al is a 1971 graduate of Greece Olympia High School.  He earned an Associates degree from Monroe Community College in 1975 and earned a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education in 1977 from SUNY Brockport.

During high school, Al was All-County in Soccer, Basketball and Baseball.  In addition he was named a high school All-American  goalkeeper in soccer and was named to the Time-Union Super 15 in basketball.  He was inducted to the Greece Olympia Sports HOF in 1997.

While attending MCC, he continued to play Basketball and Baseball.  Al was named to the All Region 3 team in Baseball.  Al was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 6th round of the January draft in 1972.  He spent two years in the Pirates organization and one year in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

In 2011, Al will be entering his 5th decade of playing softball which started in 1976.  Some of the outstanding teams he has played on over the years include Pace Electronics, Rochester Legends, Prince George and Max Spice.  Al also played two years for the Rochester Zeniths in the APSPL pro league.  Al was inducted into the RSSSA softball HOF in 2008.

Al’s softball accolades are numerous.  He has participated in 44 World and 20 NIT Tournaments. His teams have won 7 World Championships.  To his credit he has been  named to 21 All-World teams and has been named to 4 SPA All-American teams.  Al has collected 2 World Championship MVP awards. In 2006, Al was the LVSSA tournament MVP, where he batted .966 with 11 home runs. Al has a lifetime batting average over .700

Al has spent half of his career playing for Pace Electronics.  He owes a huge debt of gratitude to Pat and Karen Kehoe for allowing him to compete at the highest level of softball over the years.  A debt that he tries to repay each time he steps onto the field as well as off.  Al leads by example and has earned the respect of his teammates and peers around the country due to his sportsmanship, integrity and respect for the game.
